I'm a huge sports fan. I like the Boston Red Sox, the Boston Bruins, the Boston Celtics and the New York Giants.

So, you might wonder why I like all Boston teams, and yet am a Giants fan and not a Patriots fan. I get asked that a lot. The reason stems from when I started watching football. Back in those days (mid-late 1960s) there was the NFL and the AFL. All my friends and I were NFL kids. We felt that the AFL was silly, with their red and white striped referee uniforms and stuff like that. We would never root for an AFL team.

Of course, a few years later the Jets upset the Colts in Super Bowl III, and after that the leagues merged, and that was that.

Friends I have now who live up near Boston became Giants and Patriots fans -- they were close enough to the Patriots action to get sucked in. Later on, they dropped the Giants affiliation.

Nowadays, I'll route for the Patriots if I'm watching one of their game. Unless of course they are playing the Giants....
